BEIJING, CHINA • OCTOBER 19-20 It is our pleasure to invite you to the ICOMES 2009 Meeting, October 19-20 in Beijing, China.  The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and The Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) are proud to be your hosts for this event.   This meeting will give the ICOMES Societies the opportunity to meet with leaders from industries, educational communities, non-governmental organizations and governmental agencies in China, for extensive and intensive networking.   We realize that scheduling travel in the current environment is difficult, which is why we have arranged for several additional activities to make this meeting especially valuable: ICOMES Highlights: Meeting of Societies to discuss Society Issues, Membership, Training, Industry and Government Cooperation, International and Intersociety Collaboration   Public Meeting where participating Societies can share strategies and advances in focused sessions on: Nanotechnology, Bio-Engineering, Energy, Workforce Development, Sustainability, etc. with over 300 representatives from Chinese government Industry and academia.   Technical Tours Immediately following the ICOMES activities, on October 21-22, 2009 an International Conference on Engineering Education will be held by the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST).  CMES and ASME have been asked to play the leading role in designing this program that will help shape the future of engineering education in China. As the world faces larger challenges around energy, the engineering workforce and rapid technology development, it is critical that organizations like ours share best practices, leverage each other’s experiences and coordinate our activities to produce tangible results.  With your participation, the activities at the upcoming ICOMES and related activities promise to do this.
